The Juicy Olive
Description
The Juicy Olive is a traditional olive farmers house, located in the small village of Kalivea Theologou, approximately 15 minutes drive from the town of Sparti, on the Peloponnese of Greece mainland.
Aligned with the traditional construction of these houses, it is arranged over two floors with the kitchen and bathroom downstairs and two bedrooms with five beds in total being located upstairs. There is an additional single bed in the kitchen down stairs if needed.
The property importantly has no Wi-Fi and no television although an array of games and books are provided and growing in their numbers.
The property is equipped with all of the amenities that you would need for a comfortable stay, cooking facilities via a gas stove inside and barbecue outside, all crockery and utensils, fridge, as well as pots and pans. There is a washing machine that can be used. In the bathroom a sink, toilet and small bath with a shower over it providing hot showers. There is even an inflatable paddling pool. You just need to take your own towels.
There is however no air conditioning in the property although the window shutters play a part in keeping the inside cool and there is some lovely outside shade offered by the grape vine canopy in the garden.
It is essential to arrive at the property by car or bike. There are no public transport options, although for a person that wanted to explore the area via foot, there are coaches that serve Sparti from across Greece and then a taxi from the rank in the town of Sparti. Nonetheless, to explore the wonderful opportunities of the region that include beautiful beaches, mountain villages, archaeological sites, car hire is essential and you would be ill advised to go without that unless you are cycling there of course.
The low price point accounts for the fact that the experience differs to that that you may experience in other holiday homes (although probably not drastically from many Air BnBs). That means that there is an expectation you’ll keep the place clean and tidy and at the end of the stay ensure that everything is clean and put away, that the sheets are stripped, put through a wash cycle and dried. If time doesn’t permit, then please get in contact and I’ll explain what to do. You will find cleaning products under the kitchen sink, and cleaning equipment and a washing machine downstairs.
